Other than offering an (often much needed) visual upgrade to any car over the OEM set-up, the advantages of adding quality lowering springs and uprated anti-roll bars (ARB’s) can be vast.
Eibach offers a range of uprated springs, anti-roll bars, and suspension systems for a huge array of vehicles. Today we have a Golf GTD Estate in at the Revo Performance Centre; a typical ‘family wagon’ you could argue.
The car is having the Eibach Sportline Spring Kit and uprated anti-roll bars. Yes, it’s a daily driver. Yes, it’s the owner’s family wagon. And, yes, these upgrades will not only improve the stance but road performance, handling abilities, and ride control over the OEM variants.
The package, in this particular application, offers adjustable ARB’s too, meaning the ride can be honed as needed. The springs are an uprated item over OEM, being manufactured from high-grade spring steel and offering a slightly sportier, lower ride.
The Eibach upgrade also allows the car to offer the driver improved turn-in abilities and better control during cornering. Less body roll and a slightly lower ride height contribute to an all-around better handling car, too.
Once the parts are fitted (HERE at the Revo Performance Centre) alignment is crucial. The GTD has been treated to our full laser 4-poster in-house alignment to restore the OEM settings. All in all the hardware and alignment brings out the very best in the car’s handling characteristics.
Yeah, it’s a ‘family dad wagon’, but that doesn’t mean the B-road commute home from the office can’t be enjoyed a little bit from time to time 🙂
From here you could also add spacers to widen the track a little and fill the arches a bit better with its newfound stance. If preferred, of course.
