Revo offers some of the most substantial performance increases on the market. However, Only The Driven know that peak figures form part of a much bigger picture and are never the sole focus during Revo’s development process; it’s all about the drive. Only Revo offers a perfect balance of performance, economy and engine longevity.
The Revo tuning philosophy ensures that impressive performance benefits are balanced with useable, reliable power delivery that enhances the way your vehicle drives. Development on the road and track as well as testing in controlled dyno conditions gives you a clearer picture of the performance you can expect from Revo ECU Software. Testing in this way plays an important role in ensuring the highest quality products and delivering the driving experience expected.
The DNU* generation 2.0TSI engines have substantial changes in factory form to keep in line with the latest emissions laws. Most notable is the introduction of the GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) and the change to the direct injection system. Close monitoring of the GPF system has been an essential step in finding the limitations and tuning potential of the engines. The consensus is that the GPF not only mutes but limits the engine power, Revo ECU calibration might be a reason to dispute that.
Enhancing the vehicle with Revo ECU Software gives you much more than just an increase in power and torque. A large part of development is based on drive cycle and driver feedback, our calibration doesn’t just give a great dyno curve and peak power/torque figures but also delivers in feel; giving a smoother yet more responsive feel at low RPM/ partial throttle with huge gains at wide-open throttle throughout the whole rev range.
Only Revo performance ECU Software maintains factory safety levels and additional driving features. You can switch between three pre-set fuel quality modes depending on the fuel you use; these modes are set through testing our development vehicles in varying climatic conditions with a range of fuel quality throughout the world. The Revo SPS Software Switch is also available separately, can be used to quickly switch between performance modes and access the additional Anti-Theft mode.
Rather than simply removing the GPF, and therefore making vehicles illegal for road use we have been monitoring the effects that running higher power has on them. Our Stage 2 GPF software retains the stock downpipe factory catalytic convertor and GPF 3, although we did upgrade the GPF back section on our own Seat Cupra development vehicle to give more exhaust acoustics. Through months of extensive development, we were able to produce software with similar performance to pre-GPF 2.0TSI IS38 Stage 2 vehicles.
Only Revo operates a Global Development Programme through its network of over 400 Revo Authorised Dealers worldwide. Access to vehicles on this scale enables the calibration team to fine-tune products before release, testing products in a wide range of climates and conditions including altitude, fuel quality, humidity. This also allows Revo to test how Revo products perform in different driving scenarios and formed a vital part in the development of Performance ECU Software. You can read more information on GPF’s on our blog.
For engine oil to work effectively and lubricate your engine it needs time to warm up. When you first start your car, the cold oil is at its thickest, producing higher oil pressure when pumped around the engine putting extra pressure on oil seals. As the engine temperature increases, so do oil temperatures. This thins the oil, enabling it to run more freely and better lubricate the moving parts of your engine. Cold Start Protection helps protect engine components by limiting turbo boost based on RPM and oil temperature until it reaches the 80ºC optimum operating level.
Revo Temperature Protection is an additional array of safety features designed to improve the longevity of your engine with its newfound performance.
After-run pump and will run slightly longer under certain conditions and may run for at least 1 minute after the ignition is turned off, independent of the coolant temp. Actively monitoring oil and exhaust temperatures may extend this run time, whilst also taking into account many other factors including ambient and coolant temperatures. For example, If the engine is turned off when oil temps are 110° and EGT 550° the after-run pump will run and circulate coolant for approx. 5mins whereas on a stock car, it would run for approx. 3mins.
Intake air temp protection will start to limit torque up to a max of 80% once the set parameter is reached, this will aid the vehicles ability to manage temperatures.
Active coolant monitoring will also reduce torque by up to 50% dependant on the temperature. The amount of torque limited will increase as required once over the initial parameter set. The coolant temperature warning has also been brought down by 5*C to give an earlier warning.
Exhaust gas temperatures (EGT) are also monitored, adapting the operating conditions (Air Fuel Ratio) to ensure they stay within safe parameters. If EGT's reach a set upper limit, then power is automatically reduced until the engine returns to a safe operating temperature.
Revo Enhanced Turbine Control offers factory-like protection parameters to avoid over-boost and ensure turbine speeds do not exceed a safe level. However, software calibration cannot control over boost caused by physical hardware failure.
The gauges on the centre console & instrument cluster have been reconfigured to display a true representation of the increased performance. The stock default values for manifold pressure and engine power have been raised.
The stop-start function has now been set to “off” as default. It can be switched on again with the press of the button.
Full left- foot braking has been enabled on this software. Applying the throttle pedal after the brake pedal will allow for rolling boost build - this can also be termed as ‘rolling launch mode’.4
The brake can also be applied whilst the throttle is active to increase handling performance on corner exit, allowing for trail braking.4
Using an SPS switch you can take advantage of the switch-ability of Revo software. The Patented OBD2 interface is the ultimate compliment to Revo performance software, giving you the ability to switch between 3 fuel quality modes and an Anti-Theft mode via the vehicle OBD port.
Simply select a program, plug in, wait a few seconds, remove the SPS device and start the car. It's simple and there's no fixed switch to install in the vehicle.
As well as the fuel quality modes, Revo software is installed with built-in Antitheft Mode. Once the vehicle is put into this mode via the SPS device the engine revs will drop and throttle response will be disabled. The low revs mean the car will struggle to be moved even on the clutch without stalling. Adding an extra level of security to your vehicle. Switch it back to a performance mode and enjoy the drive.
